A Shower for a “Berry Special” Baby

We hosted a shower for our daughter and our “berry special” first grandson last Sunday. The weather was beautiful, the food was great, and we had a terrific turnout of dear friends and relatives to celebrate the anticipated birth of baby Isaac.

Keen on hiking, traveling, and other outdoor activities, Mary and Joseph have selected a “National Parks” theme for Isaac’s nursery at their adorable home in Baton Rouge. They will have had two showers with the “adventure” theme, so we opted for a Berry Special Baby theme, since we grow lots of blueberries here at Mary’s home-place, and we love berries. Not exactly the right time for berries, mid-March, but it was the last time we could have the little mama here at the house!

Berry chantilly cakes are Mary’s favorite, and we love them too, so we made these Berry Chantilly cupcakes. There was enough chantilly icing in the recipe to use on the big cake, too, and still lots left in the fridge!

Mary has one more church shower this weekend, and then several weeks to get everything organized for baby Isaac’s arrival in May! Thanks to everyone who made this such a lovely celebration!
