We enjoyed a beautiful and delicious charcuterie spread Christmas Eve. This year, my youngest organized her siblings in presenting a GORGEOUS charcuterie featuring everything from shrimp cocktail and boudin balls to an assortment of cheese, meats and dips.
Charcuterie is the arranging and preparing of cured meats, cheeses and finger foods on a platter or board. We LOVE a meat and cheese plate, and this time, the kids went way past the small spreads we usually enjoy after raiding the imported cheese section of a good grocery store!
The handmade boudin balls were prepared with boudin Mary brought from Baton Rouge, and they were delicious! Em served them with a homemade remoulade and they were one of the stars of the charcuterie board!
Mary prepared some yummy brie bites, with berry jam and brie baked in mini crescent roll cups. Annsley prepared her awesome whipped feta dip, and there were sausage balls, olives, goat cheese, prosciutto, homemade pickled okra and cheese balls (my two contributions!) Toasted baguette slices, Dot’s Pretzels (if you know, YOU KNOW!), and assorted crackers provided something to launch all the yummy goodness into our mouths! Homegrown rosemary and fruits made everything pretty, too!
It’s so nice to have grown children at a time like this! They made it all happen, and presented a lovely, artistic table.
We all dug in, after many photographs!, and ate in the living room while watching our favorite “Elf.”
You should try these boudin balls! They were so good! I’ll not say they are simple – it did seem like Em was fixing them for a long time! But The Spruce Eats has a winner here!
